WHY JUNE?

Another big plus for Coolangatta and its surrounds, as far as Bike Fest Oz! organisers are concerned, is the relatively mild and predictable weather during a time of year when a large part of Australia is battening down for the winter. The climate and weather in general in June is incredibly favourable for outdoor activities like motorcycling, with temperatures typically in the mid-20s C and given that the area is such a magnet for tourists, there literally will not be enough time for festival visitors to see and experience all the area has to offer. Plus, the middle of the month of June is relatively quiet in terms of annual holidays, so there tend to be less long queues etc at tourist attractions.

“Which is why we believe that Bike Fest Oz! has a lot of fuel in the tank and mileage to be covered as an annual event on the national – and international – motorcycle calendar,” said Chris. “I’ve run lots of tours to all kinds of big car and bike events and festivals in the US and elsewhere over the years and really, there’s just so much to attract motorcycle enthusiasts to the area that I believe it will very quickly become a major destination for bike riders of all persuasions and literally from the four corners of the planet.

“I’ve already had commitments from mates in New Zealand and the US to come down and play with us in 2023 and I’m sure that international riders and bike people will enjoy the many unique attractions and events that we’ll be running.

“We intend to develop Bike Fest Oz! to become the truly pinnacle motorcycle event that Australasia has always needed and deserved.”
