Organisers of Australia’s newest, and most exciting motorcycle event, Bike Fest Oz! 2023, are delighted to announce a partnership with the International Hot Rod Association Australia for a major event at the Festival in July next year.
Australia’s premier drag racing sanctioning body and promotor, IHRA Australia is run by MD and accomplished international motorcycle drag racer, Maurice Allen. Son of the equally accomplished and revered drag racer, “Pommy” Pete Allen, Maurice said he is keen to showcase the spectacular sport of drag racing at next year’s Bike Fest Oz! by presenting a very special and dynamic display at the Festival.

“We love what Chris and the Bike Fest Oz! crew are putting together on the Tweed Coast next year and we decided we absolutely have to be involved,” he said. “I’ve known Chris for a long time and we agreed straight away on exactly what we want to present at Bike Fest Oz!. Chris is a drag racer too, so it’s going to be a great match-up we reckon.”
“Don’t want to give too much away at this stage,” said Bike Fest Oz! MD Chris Beattie, “but there’s going to be the distinctive smell of nitromethane in the air at the Festival and I reckon visitors will definitely feel the earth move when several thousand horsepower is unleashed on the Tweed Coast. And we’ll be catering for both two- and four-wheeled drag racing fans,” he said.
“We’re really happy to be working with IHRA Australia and Maurice, who runs a very professional organisation and has accomplished so much on the quarter-mile, both here and in the US. Even better that we are hopeful his legendary dad, motorcycle and Top Fuel racer “Pommie” Pete Allen will put in a guest appearance at Bike Fest Oz! And knowing Pete, it’ll be on something very special.”
